At the next Council Meeting Erica and I are proposing 3 resolutions. The first has been done jointly with Steve Radford and relates to the Liverpool City Region.
This is one that we have put down relating to Sefton Park Meadowlands. We are enthused that the Mayor of Liverpool has made public statements about his concerns about the number of trees that would need to be demolished to make his proposals work.
Since January when it became clear that there was a difference of opinion between Redrow and the Mayor we have publicly seen nothing. We are tremendously encouraged by this. So encouraged that we are putting down the resolution.
Unless all Parties agree the resolution it will not be discussed at council but will then go to the next meeting of the Regeneration Select Committee which si responsible for land disposal. That will give us all a chance to make our views felt on this important and symbolic piece of land.
Sefton Park Meadowlands
Council notes that it is now a year since the proposed developer held a ‘consultation’ event with regard to the development of the Sefton Park Meadowlands.
It further notes that the developer made clear in January that they were ready to proceed with pre-application discussions with the Council with a view to making an early planning application.
It lastly notes that no official application has yet been received.
Council welcomes the fact that second thoughts appear to being had all round ion this issue and resolves to request the Mayor of Liverpool to withdraw this site from sale.
