Highlights of the local government activity at the Lib Dem Spring Conference in Sheffield this weekend include:

Friday 11th March

Council Group of the Year Awards 

20.00 – 21.30   Mercure St Paul’s Hotel, City Suite A and B

Attendees will include Nick Clegg; DCLG Minister Andrew Stunell; Party President Tim Farron

Saturday 12th March

Debate on Health

10.45 – 11.45 – Main Confernce Hall – Plenary Debate 

A contentious debate with a number of amendments which will be summed up by Cllr Richard Kemp, Leader of the Liberal Democrats in Local Government

Next Generation Launch

13.00 – 14.00  Mercure St Pauls City Suite 3

13.00 – 14.00   Leopold Hotel Library One and Two

DCLG Minister Andrew Stunell and LGA Leader Cllr Richard Kemp debate the advance or otherwise of localism under the coalition government

Booklet Launch

There will also be the launch of a Booklet – “Delivering Localism” How Liberal Democrats in Government are helping to set councils free. This will be available from the LGA Lib Stand or you can preview it on
